hola doctor steve,soy luis de caracas (venezuela)me diagnosticaron vih hace 17 años y todo este tiempo he estado bajo control medico sin necesida de tratamiento pero en mi ultimo examen los cd4 bajaron a 225 y mi cv 190000 copias.ante estos numeros mi doctor me recomendo que hera hora de empezar tratamiento con duovir+reyataz+norvir y asi lo hice.mi pregunta es doctor ese es un buen tratamiento? ¿cueles son sus efectos secundarios? saludos doctor luis.

Hola Luís,
Estoy completamente de acuerdo con tu doctor en que era hora de empezar tratamiento. Sin embargo, no soy un gran admirador de Duovir, porque contiene AZT (zidovudina, Retrovir), un nucleósido que ha perdido aceptación debido a su perfil desfavorable de efectos secundarios y toxicidades, en concreto la anemia y la lipoatrofia (pérdida de grasa en la cara, brazos, glúteos y piernas). Prefiero Truvada, una combinación de tenofovir (Viread) y emtricitabina (Emtriva). Si los resultados de tu prueba de resistencia obtenidos antes de comenzar tratamiento no revelan ninguna razón para no tomar esta pastilla de combinación, habla con tu doctor de esta opción.
