Querido Juan,
Te sugiero que te enfoques ante todo sobre el recuento de CD4 cuando estás pensando en comenzar el tratamiento. Hace varios años que muchos médicos especialistas en VIH, incluyendo yo mismo, favorecen comenzar el tratamiento cuando los CD4 caen por debajo de 350, aunque las pautas oficiales especifican un umbral más general de entre 200 y 350 células. Te interesarás en enterarte de que las nuevas directrices de tratamiento europeas difundidas por muy poco recomiendan que las personas viviendo con VIH piensen seriamente en comenzar el tratamiento cuando los CD4 se disminuyen por debajo de 350. Es de esperar que las pautas estadounidenses, anticipadas dentro de los próximos pocos meses, sigan el ejemplo.
