Bueno, quiero felicitar por esta página, y agradecer por tranquilizar con sus conocimientos...
Quiero saber si tengo realmente que despreocuparme respecto del nacimiento de mi hija, porque soy hiv + y me entré al quinto mes de embarazo, empecé a tomar medicación al mes y llevo un mes de tratamiento... es prudencial el tiempo de protegerla?o fue tarde el comienzo del tratamiento? Al menos s{e que no es en vano...
También, tuve una reacción alergica a la nevirapina, no quiero volver a tomarla porque me hizo muchísimo daño a la piel, puedo obviar esa droga de aquí en más?
Agradecería una pronta respuesta...RL

Querida RL,
Ya estás bien encaminada por empezar tratamiento: La probabilidad de transmisión perinatal cuando la madre no toma tratamiento es 20%. Con HAART o TARGA (Tratamiento Antirretroviral de Gran Actividad) es entre el 1% y el 2%. Por tanto, es muy importante que continúes tomando tus antirretrovirales a lo largo de tu embarazo. En adición a tu tratamiento, varias otras cosas disminuirán el riesgo de transmisión perinatal, tales como el parto por cesárea y evitar la lactancia materna. Si ya no es el caso, deberías estar en manos de un obstetra especialista en VIH. Además tu futuro bebe necesitará el tratamiento antirretroviral al tiempo del parto. Por lo tanto, tendrás que consultar a un pediatra experto en la asistencia médica de los recién nacidos de las portadoras.
Finalmente, RL, ya que tuviste una reacción alérgica a la nevirapina, no deberías volver a tomarla. Hoy en día, con muchas opciones disponibles acerca de los antirretrovirales, no debería ser un problema obviar la nevirapina. Habla con tu médico especialista en VIH para asegurarte de que tu régimen actual es óptimo en cuanto al control de tu virus y a la seguridad de tu futuro bebe.
