Buenos días y gracias por el servicio que prestan.
Recientemente han diagnosticado el VIH a mi pareja y ya ha empezado la medicación (truvada y sustiva) y, dado que se encuentra por debajo de 200 también debe tomar septrin. Antes del diagnóstico habiamos planificado un viaje a áfrica por el cual teniamos que hacer la profilaxis de la malaria. Pese que en un mes de medicación su cuerpo ha reaccionado muy bien (ganando peso) y aun faltan algunos meses, la verdad es que tengo mis dudas sobre la pertinencia de llevar a cabo el viaje (me da miedo decirselo porque está muy ilusionado). Me gustaría saber que mínimo de cd4 se debe tener para poder tomar la medicación de la malaria y las vacunas obligatorias y si usted piensa que es adecuado. Muchas gracias

Creo que este viaje es bien posible para tu y tu pareja; sin embargo, antes de desearles un "buen viaje," quisiera saber mucho más: Por ejemplo, (1) ¿Cuál es su recuento de CD4 preciso? "Por debajo de 200" embarca un rango inmenso. Por ejemplo, 25 es muy distinto que 175. (2) ¿Dónde en África? Es un continente enorme. Ciertas enfermedades infecciosas, tal como la polio, son asuntos en ciertos países (y así una vacuna puede ser necesaria) y no en otros.
Te recomiendo que tu pareja consulte a un médico que tiene experiencia en el campo de la medicina de los viajeros así como en el del VIH/SIDA. Quizás sea tu especialista actual.
Soy muy optimista. Creo que tus proyectos para este viaje extraordinario se transformarán en una realidad.
