|Once a day the best?
Apr 23, 2001
I have to decide now whether or not to take medications and what to take. Should my decsion basically be to find drugs that are once or twice a day??? I have a real busy schedule...

There are strong data to support some once-a-day regimens using FDA-approved drugs, for example, Videx/Epivir/Sustiva or Videx/Sustiva/Nevirapine. Epivir and Nevirapine are not yet FDA-approved for once daily dosing, but they can be dosed once-daily if your doctor thinks that is appropriate for you. Most people do not get a huge benefit from a once-daily regimen versus a twice-daily regimen, but some do. I would discuss this with your doctor and make a decision based upon what you think you can do. Of course, the most important aspect of all regimens is that you take them absolutely religiously. If once-daily dosing would make a big difference in that respect, I would consider starting you on one. BB
