| Hair Loss Aug 14, 2000 I am a 38 yo female currently on STI. My cd4 has dropped from 837 to 153 and vl has risen from undetectable to 42,000. My question is this, all other tests seem to be within normal range, ie: RBC, WBC, could viral replication cause my hair to fall out? I recall that upon my diagnosis back in 1995, when cd4 was 12 and vl was 1.5 million, I also had hair thinning, at that time, I was also suffering from many OI's. I am just curious if this is common or even anything to be concerned about? |

Response from Dr. Henry
Hair falling out is a common complaint with many causes including the HIV drugs, perhaps HIV itself (as you mentioned), hereditary conditions, hormone imbalances. It sounds like it may be time to get back on treatment. I have heard many stories like yours for sure. Keith Henry, M.D. | |||||||||
