| Sore achey muscles and bones Aug 26, 1999 I have been HIV+ since at least 1987. I have been through the gamut of drugs and am resistant to most. I am currently on Sustiva, Zerit, and 3TC since March 1999. I also take Bactrim, a daily multivitamin, and 1cc of B12 about every two weeks. My last bloodwork -around May "99- revealed VL <50 - down from 240,000, and CD4's at 484 - up from 104. No other severe abnormalities were noted. My problem is I am experiencing extreme muscle and bone soreness in most of my body, but in particular my calves, ankles, and in the back of my upper arms (deltoids?. I also experience, at times, a slight buzzing or tingling sensation throughout my entire body and am starting to experience a lot of weakness. I'm wondering if anyone else who is HIV+ experiences any of these symptoms. The buzzing/tingling can be especially disconcerting. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
You may be experiencing neuropathy caused by the D4T, or myopathy caused by HIV or something else. You should ask your doctor to check your testosterone level, your CPK and aldolase for myopathy and perhaps see a neurologist about the neuropathy. Elavil at bedtime works very well for the neuropathy, if that's what it is. Good Luck ! Douglas T. Dieterich, M.D. | |||
