| Neuropathy and Impotence Jul 24, 2001 I've been HIV+ for 15 years and my neuropathy predates the onset of protease inhibators. My latest counts were-viral load =undetectable and T cells =700. All in all I've been very healthy and really shouldn't complain but I now have a renewed sex drive but have a lot of trouble with proformance. I'm on Kaletra, Susustiva and Abacavir. Could the progression of neuropathy ahve anything to do with impotence. |

Response from Dr. Bartlett
Neuropathies can result in impotence, but not the peripheral neuropathies usually associated with HIV or antiretroviral treatment. Do you ever awake with erections in the morning? Have you had a plasma testosterone level checked? I strongly suggest that you review this symptom with your health care provider becuase there are many treatments available. Good luck! | |||||||||
