blood transfusion?
Mar 20, 2000

I would like to know your opinion on having a blood transfusion when tc's are at 10 and testing of bone

marrow and what relevance this test would have.

confused?

Response from Dr. Henry

I am not sure exactly what your question is. A blood transfusion may be indicated if you have a seriously low red blood cell count. If by tc you mean T-cell count and that is 10 the issue of whether you should have a blood transfusion related more to your hemoglobin level than to your T cell count. If your have a low red blood cell count they sometimes will do a bone marrow test to determine why that is. Keith Henry, M.D.
