| viral load Mar 8, 2013 I have been undetectable for the last 12 years. I recently ran out of viracept but had combivar to take. in my last labs my cd4 was 1166 but my viral load went up to 30.could this mean because of a couple of days without the viracept my viral load is going up? is it treatment failure? |

Response from Dr. Henry
A viral load of 30 is still very low and , in fact, our lab intentionally reports any results under 48 copies/ml as < level of detection because clinical implictions of low levels of virus (< 48 copies/is uncertain. Viral blips (popping up to < 500 copies) occur periodically. Missing dose of meds can lead to a transient viral load increase but those also occur spontaneously. KH | |||||||||
