Feb 12, 2012
hi doc, i am taking gold compounds for rheumatic arthritis, ridaura (auranofin). but recently i saw this gold compound kills hiv reservoir cells, activates latent hiv and destroy infected long lived cd4 memory cells. is it going to give me benefit for both hiv and arthritis or bad result would happen? please help.

Patients can be successfully treated with for HIV and rheumatoid arthritis though using drugs for both can be a challenge. I have not seen any published clinical data reporting that gold treatment has a positive benefit on HIV infection-if any reader knows of a reference please post. KH
