Swollen lymph node?
Jan 10, 2012

I have a small lump under my chin which has developed over the past few days, it is painful to touch. I have also noticed a bit of a cold sweat and I have dropped 10lbs in the past month, although I have been watching what I eat more recently. My last CD4 count in august was 950, with viral load undetectable. I have been pretty good with my antiretrovirals, although recently a little off with timing some days. I'm am scheduled to be traveling for the next three months, but I am concerned that I should go and get my blood work done, but this would mean me having to return home. What would be your advice?

Response from Dr. Henry

Unlikely to be a serious HIV-related problem given your CD4 count and HIV level. Many oral/neck conditions can cause a swollen lymph node in the neck/chin area so if that persists then a evaluation including a neck and mouth/oral examination would be recommended. KH
