| Vasculitis and Hiv Nov 23, 2011 Hello,i want to ask you if someone has hiv for years(7)and doesn t know it and find it by accindent during a periodo that has been diagnosed with vasculitis glomerulonephritis,is it possible to treat it and be ok for many years? Please let me now i am ver scared, thank you very much |

HIV can cause kidney damage (usually with protein loss in urine and not standard vascular glomerulonephritis). HIV may have some association with vasculitis but link is not clear. Some HIV meds can cause kindey problems (such as tenofovir or stone causing drugs like indinavir) so it can be a challenge to sort out the cause of glomerulonephritis in setting of treated HIV infection. Usually can treat it to some degree under supervision of kidney specialist working with your HIV doctor. KH | |||||||||
