Red sore on scalp Oct 7, 2011 HIV + male 8yrs reyataz epscom cocktail no viral load and 900 tcells. Have a red sore on my scalp and do not know if this is a sign of kc or some other serious concern. Not itchy but sore to touch. I have been getting barber hair cuts with electric razor do u have any info on what this may be? |

 Kaposi's sarcoma unlikey but possible in HIV+ person doing well on ART with CD4 cells > 500. Scalp problems are common in general and more common in HIV+ persons and can include conditions like seborrhea or UV light related skin cancers. I recommend having your HIV specialist assess the lesion and/or refer to a dermatologist for diagnosis (sometimes would get a skin biopsy if there is a concern for some form of cancer). KH | ||||||||
