|good diet to be on - just starting meds
Feb 1, 2011
Dear Doc, I am just starting medication, Trustiva. CD4 197 viral load 175000. I would like to know what is a healthy diet to follow? What foods should I definitely include in my diet and what will keep me strong so that my stomach is able to tolerate the medicines? Thank you
Response from Dr. Henry
Proper diet depends partly on your overall health status (overweight, at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, family history, renal/liver status). From HIV standpoint and with your HIV regimen, avoiding a high fat meal near time of your taking the Trustiva is recommended to minimize any side effects from efavirenz. KH
