Yellow fever vaccination and HIV+ ok to get it?
Jan 23, 2011
I have a question if I may. I just got new job offer that involves lots of travel. There is a requirement of a yellow fever shot or eventually a medical waiver form. My CD4 count now is 436 and all the sites online i visited online states that i should be fine. Noone seems to have a detailed information if It is ok to get vaccinated. Just need advice and guidance on what to do. Thank you so much.

Need to weigh risk for acquiring yellow fever depending on where you are traveling versus the low risk for a problem when using a live virus vaccine when mildly immune compromised. Generally OK to use in HIV+ patients with CD4 count > 350 (likely better still if on HIV meds and suppressed HIV levels). KH
