resistance is confusing Jul 14, 2010 hi i am recently been digonsed with hiv, my doctor prescribes me AZT,3TC and effavirenz as my starting regime instead of atripla, reason being given that in case if i developr resistance, i can switch over to atripla later and have mor options, longer survival time, but not vice versa as if i develope resistance to atripla cant shift to these. is it so? |

 Resistance is an important concern and can be complicated. For most patients, resistance concerns for AZT + 3TC + efavirenz would overlap with those for Atripla (resistance to one regimen would lead to resistance to the other regimen). Success rates (including avoidance of resistance) has been generally better for Truvada + efavirenz (Atripa) versus AZT + 3TC + efavirenz). KH | ||||||||
