| Recurring Becteria Vaginosis Jun 9, 2010 Dear Dr, I am on Atripla now for over two years. I started having a relationship since Oct last year and I have been repeatedly getting BV. my viral load is undetectable and CD4 is over 400. I have been on metranidazole suppositories but it keeps coming back. Anything I can do? The discharge is a bit like cottage cheese so i'm thinking it could also be yeast. would you recommend what i can take to eliminate the recurring problem?. thanks Jam |

Response from Dr. Henry
Recurrent bacterial vaginosis can be a challenge to treat in some women even in the general (HIV-) population. Often local factors such as bacterial flora/pH/use of antibiotics can influence the situation. Evaluation of sexual partners and possible use of active culture yogurt or similar products to restore normal flora/PH may be worth considering. KH | |||||||||
