Lipodytrophy occurs in both sexes. Aging, genetics, time with HIV infection, a lower CD4 count all contribute to the risk for fat related problems in the setting of HIV infection. Treatment with fat friendly HIV drugs at higher CD4 counts (and when younger) may be the best strategy for minimizing fat problems though that view is still under study. I recommend discussing with your HIV specialist. KH | ||||||||||
