| DR's and PRN..-Pain Feb 3, 2010 Looking into some of the answers fer persons with HIV/AIDS and Periphial Neuropathy and telling them to stay away from narcotics ( opium ). You all Have NO IDEA the pain some of us go through. HIV is now considered a CHRONIC ILLNESS is it not ? Chronic! just like CHRONIC PAIN due to PRN. How dare you all not support those of us who are in horrific pain daily and have no life but sitting around unable to do nothing.. No life just sitting around waisting. My big question to alot of your so called "DOCTORS".. why are you treating us with no compassion to our suffering. we are going to die anyways and to get addicted to some pills.. are you KIDDING ME! I personally am tired of Doctors making us suffer and punishing us when we are so called not lil good patients and do everything the docs says or we will take your pain meds away.. it seems alot of the doctors have attitudes they are better than and or have the " GOD" syndrome. I have seen every specialist possible and still i suffer along with so many others and we are not getting the right treatment we feel we deserve. I have never taken medications since I was diagnosed with HIV NEVER .. as a child I got my shots and that was all.. I am not a pill person yet it seems alot of doctors want to push HIV meds down a persons throat when the patient either wants a break is is just at the moment tired of taking medications period and wants relief from Pain. I have seen alot of addicted persons walk into emergency rooms or doctors and just get loaded with pain killers and i see those of us who try to get wat little help we can and we have to struggle just to get that one prescription a month to help with pain. So tell me.. why are MOST DOCTORS not giving those of us wiuth HIV and CHRONIC PAIN.. Medications to help with the pain ??? are you afraid of losing your damned Lic. ? I know I sound bitter .. yet I feel I have the right to be this way.. i am tired of suffering and tired of seeing others suffer as well.. Thanks for your time.. I will be suprised to see an answer to this one. and I am sure if I do get a response it will be something hateful. Most doctors have lost compassion to thier patients.. it's really sad. Rain |

Response from Dr. Henry
Your frustration is noted-thanks for sharing that with the readers here. There is no doubt that in many/most cases chronic pain in HIV+ persons is not managed well and that our understanding and approach to peripheral neuropathy is inadequate. KH | ||||||||||
