GHB Truvada Norvir & Reyataz
Dec 27, 2009

Unfortunately I take GHB a couple of times everyday to stay out of withdrawals. I was just switch from Truvada & Viramune to Truvada, Norvir & Reyataz. GHB can be dangerous with other CNS drugs or alcohol but what about my regimen?

Response from Dr. Henry

I am not aware of any formal study examining use of GHB (brand name Xyrem used for narcolepsy though widely used illicitly as a rave drug-also commonly use as a date rape drug) with protease inhibitors. If any reader knows of such a study please post. Needs to be used with great caution with other sedative drugs. Likely OK to use the prescribed drug under supervision with your new HIV regimen.
