interaction between sibutramine and atazanavir
Dec 11, 2009

I would like to know about the potential interaction between atazanavir and this lowering-weigth agent ( sibutramine) since both of them are metabolized by the same enzyme. Thank you

Response from Dr. Henry

I have not seen a study formally looking at the potential interaction between atazanavir and sibutramine. You are correct that both are metabolized in the liver. I think the concern is more whether there may be increased toxicity from the sibutramine due to higher levels from blockage of clearing enzymes. If any reader has any information about any study looking at this please post! KH
