|Extremem chronic Pain
Nov 12, 2009
After 16 yrs of being very compliant. My cd4 is over 2,000 and my VL is undetectable. However I am miserable with neck pain, back pain and joint pain all over. So I know what your text book says but I think your text book is WRONG. We are all still learning about HIV and I think all the pppl complaining of joint problems should definitely be take into consideration.

Diffuse joint/bone pains are common in the general population and may be increased with both aging and HIV infection. An assessment for contributing conditions is recommended (often involving rheumatologic or neurologic testing/consultation) as well as pain management interventions. Often pain assessment and management is a frustrating challenge as your testimony illustrates. KH
