skin lesions
Oct 2, 2009

i have been tested posiive over a year now, i have these itchy bumps resembling insect bites all over my skin.. especialy at nights, leaving a dark spot afterwards, i am not yet onany treatment..does these rash has any thing to do with my status?

Response from Dr. Henry

Skin conditions are very common in the general population and even more common in HIV+ persons. There are a wide variety of skin disorders such as folliculitis, ezcema, seborrhea, fungal infections and many others. The treatment depends on the actual diagnosis so evaluation by an HIV specialist or a dermatologist is recommended. In some cases the skin problems can be helped by effective use of antiretroviral therapy so that is something to discuss with your HIV specialist. KH
