Do HIV meds promote or help muscle growth?
Sep 30, 2009

Do HIV therapies like Atripla promote or help with muscle growth?

Response from Dr. Henry

Good question. The effects of Atripla on muscle mass would be fairly neutral or protective (by maintaining health decreased risk for wasting which results in loss of muscle mass). Muscle mass would not be expected to significantly increase from effective HIV treatment alone in the absence of increased (and sustained) exercise, nutrition, and/or optimal hormone health. KH
