omentem-ectomy for AIDS Belly?

Sorry for the spelling... three doctors in Minneapolis have suggested I look into an omentem-ectomy to help with reducing my AIDS belly. Any thoughts?

I have seen no peer reviewed published data (including long term follow-up) about direct removal of intra-abdominal fat in the setting of treated HIV infection. Genetics, HIV status, aging, diet, exercise, and certain HIV drugs and other factors can contribute to increased intra-abdominal fat in HIV+ persons. I would be skeptical about the long term benefit and safety of surgical removal of intra-abdominal fat.KH
