am 5 months hiv pregnancy and doctore prescribed ne with combivir and this for the rest of my life or just during the pregnancy?

Response from Dr. Henry

Certainly for the rest of the pregnancy. These days we are less often likely to recommend stopping therapy in a patient who is doing well on a given regimen. The Combivir/Kaletra is an established regimen for pregnancy and could be changed to a more user friendly regimen after delivery depending on the circumstances. If your CD4 count was high (ie >> 500) before starting treatment it might be soewhat easier to consider stopping treatment if you wanted to after delivery. KH
