Facial swelling

A friend who is HIV and on ARVS started with a small sore in the nose now her whole face has swollen - around the eyes, cheeks and lips. What does this mean?

She needs to be evaluated for a number of possible conditions including a drug reaction or an infection (such as herpes simplex or zoster). I recommend she see her HIV doc promptly. KH
