gene therapy for hiv treatment

Hi Dr Keith,
l am hiv positve and just started meds 2 months ago my cd4 was 300 and viroal load 45,000 and percentage was %19
l feel better now l am on the meds truvada and nivermine, but l keep reading about gene therapy as a new form of treatment for my hiv,
please tell me what you think about gene therapy vs tablets meds as my option to keep me healthy from hiv...

Too early to comment whether gene therapy will ever be an available, affordable, effective HIV therapy. Has only been used in very select research settings so far. For the immediate future (next 2-5 years) effective antiretroviral therapy will remain the cornerstone of protecting the health of HIV+ persons. KH
