FUNGAL INFECTION
Jan 28, 2009

Doc. I have just switched meds due to resistant from AZT to Alluvia,Tenofavir & Zidolam. My CD4 is above 500. Recently I have had bad fungal infection. I have used cream but to no avail. is it ok to take Ketacanazole tablets along with my ART drugs, I understand Kalletra does not go well with ketacanazole, please advise. Am african and my doctors are not so sure. HELP!!!

Response from Dr. Henry

Should be OK to take ketoconazole with abacavir, tenofovir, AZT and 3TC. When taking Kaletra with ketoconazole may need to adjust ketoconazole levels due to possible higher levels from effect of Kaletra on liver clearance of ketoconazole. KH
