| Viral load count Dec 10, 2008 thank you for your helping all of us doctor.I would just like to ask , if ever i donthave access to my viral load count and my cd4 count is above 200. does this mean im doing well and the arv meds im taking is effective? For how long does usually an arv meds be effective for treatment? before change of arv meds is recommended based on your clinical observation.. thanks! |

The majority of patients who have a good initial response to antiretroviral therapy (well tolerated with clinical improvement, HIV suppression to below level of detectio, and/or CD4 increase) will continue to do well for many years (failure rate generally < 5% /year)as long as adherence remains high and access to drugs continues.
