|New HIV option Gene Therapy
Dec 10, 2008
Hi Dr Henry, you are a sait and bring calm and happiness to many hiv people's lives, l am HIV pos but not on meds, l need to start sooner that later and have been reading about gene therapy
Can you explain to me the difference between HIV drug and gene therapies? Which is more effective for those living with HIV? And are they both available in the U.S. or in Australia ???
thank you Doctor and take care
Response from Dr. Henry
There is no gene therapy for HIV infection that is currently available other then in some investigational (research) studies. Gene therapies may have several mechanisms of action and are likely to be expensive with no long term data yet available from the small studies performed to date. KH
