|Cheaper HIV meds
Sep 6, 2008
Have been on Sustiva,Viread and Ziagen for years with good results. However, those are brands and Medicare part D is becoming too expensive for me. What (new) alternatives are available to reduce the cost? Thank you.
Response from Dr. Henry
The cost of HIV care in US (mostly meds) remains too high with few options. Use of generic AZT/3TC and nevirapine can be somewhat cheaper but that regimen has fallen out of favor due to twice a day dosing and somewhat higher side effect rates than seen with other newer regimens. Frustrating situation since all US regimens cost > $1000/month and many cost much more. KH
