| Chemo for lymphoma and HIV treatment Aug 26, 2008 I am undergoing chemo for ileal lymphoma using CHOP. I was just disgnosed (absl CD4: 191, VL: 100,000) The chemo is kicking my butt with side-effects, and i am afraid to begin my HIV drugs for fear of layering more side-effects. HIV regimine: Truvada, Lexiva, Norvir all once daily. The side-effects of the chemo are horrible and i don't know if i can handle even more from teh HIV regimine. You thoughts? |

Response from Dr. Henry
Your proposed HIV regimen is fairly bone marrow friendly and likely to work OK with your CHOP. I have had reasonable success initiating such regimens in the midst of chemotherapy. The major category of side effects for ritonavir/Lexiva/Truvada relates to the gut but are usually manageable and often diminish after the first several weeks. KH | ||||||||||
