lansoprazole and Kaletra
May 26, 2008

Hi, I am in the UK. I am currently taking Kivexa and Kaletra for my therapy. I visited my GP this week who prescribed Lansoprazole 30mg one tablet as necessary at night for indigestion/heartburn. I read the leaflet for Lansoprazole last night and it said that Lansprazole can 'interact' with PIs. As my GP isn't available again until Tuesday(UK public holiday)-is it safe to take the Lansoprazole while taking Kaletra? Thank you

Response from Dr. Henry

Generally it is safe/OK to take lansoprazole and Kaletra. There is a concern when taking atazanavir +/-ritonavir with lanzoprazole due to concerns about decreased absorption of atazanavir with low gastic PH.
