Depression and Atripila
May 3, 2008

I am a brain injury and stroke survivor. I am on the HIV medication Atripila and experiencing depression. Is there a depression medication that can be taken with Atripila that wont have drug interactions? I am also taking Keppra for seizure disorder. Please advice so I can go to my doctors with some suggestiond of depression medications. Thanks, LG

Response from Dr. Henry

Atripla can generally be taken safely with a variety of the older tricyclic antidepressants (ie amitryptiline) or older and newer serotonin uptake inhibitors (such as Prozac or Celexa). KH
