Response from Dr. Henry
Sleep abnormalities are very common during the first 2-4 weeks after starting Atripla (due mostly to the efavirenz). Many patients take some sort of sleep aid (either over the counter or prescription) to help ease sleep problems encountered after starting efavirenz. I am not familiar from actual patient experience with the Calms product that contains 4 natural ingredients marketed as a sleep aid. After reviewing some product information I generally would not expect there to be any problems if Calms was used by a patient such as yourself to help minimize sleep problems due to Atripla. There are no well done studies to my knowledge that have actually looked at the effectiveness of Calms in that setting or at any drug interactions. If any reader is aware of any publication on the topic please post. KH | |||||||||
