| Sculptra for Buttock Lipoatrophy (Reply) Aug 24, 2007 An earlier post inquired about the possible use of Sculptra to treat fat loss in the buttocks. As Dr. Henry pointed out, because of the volume of Sculptra needed, the cost would be prohibitive. Another filler may be the answer, however. A doctor in Rio has been treating a number of lipoatrophy sufferers with PMMA. (This filler has just been approved in the U.S. under the name Artefill.) He has used it to treat fat loss in a number of areas, including the buttocks. For more information, I suggest you check out this web site: http://home.triad.rr.com/lipoatrophy/My_Lipoatrophy/Page_1x.html The site was created by Ford Warrick, whose interview is featured in thebody's Lipoatrophy Resource Center. Ford has posted before and after pictures of his face and buttocks, and he describes his experience with the doctor. Anyone interested in the treatment needs to spend some time doing research, but Ford's web site is a good place to start. |

Response from Dr. Henry
Thank you for posting that information on Artefill. As another reader pointed out, Artefill is also very expensive though may last longer than Sculptra. KH | |||||||||
