Lipodissolve and HIV
Aug 12, 2007
I want to use lipodissolve which is a non surgical way to lose belly fat, etc. Why it is not recommended to patients with HIV? Can I do this procedure?
Response from Dr. Henry
I have seen no published data on the outcomes (safety and efficacy) of using Lipodissolve for fat increases in the setting of HIV+ status. Much of the fat increase in the abdominal region seen in HIV-related fat hypertrophy is intra-abdominal (visceral) fat whereas it is my understanding that Lipodissolve is used for subcutaneous fat (in the layer under the skin). Lipodissolve would not be used to for visceral fat. If any reader has a good reference on use of Lipodissolve in the setting of HIV+ lipodystrophy please post. KH
