intestnal tract dirder
Jul 25, 2007

Hi. Recently I've been having huge swelling in the intestinal tract, it blows up like a football. I made tests and it seems normal but what is the real cure for this swelling? By the way, I've taken SPASMOMEN or something like that and it didn't help a lot, and I want to what are the causes of this swelling. thank you in advance

Response from Dr. Conway

Spasmomen (otilonium) is an antispasmodic used to treat irritable bowel syndrome and related conditions. The fact that it didn't seem to help is interesting, but it does not help us understand what it going on with you. There are many, many causes of swelling of the abdomen and you need to have blood tests, and probably X-rays and other tests (such as endoscopy) to figure out what you have as specifically as possible. A more specific treatment than spasmomen could then probably be used to help you out.
