Jun 22, 2007

Im useing a regime of kaltra two tabs twice a day,,and 1 tab of emtricitabine(200mg)and teofovire 300mg,im supsidly diagnosed with pml but they are not sureI do have a lesion on the lower back side of my brain, witch disables my right side limbs,is this treatment good or what do i do to improve this condition,my dr doent know 100% if this is pml my cd4 is 485 my viral is undtectable,I think my lesion may be shrinking i have aother mri scheduled in a few days..

Response from Dr. Henry

If you previously had a diagnosis of PML then effective antiretroviral therapy will often stabilize but not reverse/repair some of the structural brain damage that can be caused by JC virus (the etiology of PML). PML would be unusual to develop as a new problem in a patients doing well on treatment with a confiremed CD4 count at 485. KH
