What is Merca ? Something to do with the skin ???
Jul 16, 2006
I was diagnosed as having merca a couple of years ago. I know it has something to do with my skin. Is this curable and does this have a factor on my skin rashes with my HIV coctail Combivir/Sustiva??

I am not familiar with that terminology--was it a methicillin resistant staph infection (called MRSA)? If so then I am unaware of any link between that infection and your HIV drugs. Some populations of HIV+ persons are at higher risk for MRSA infection which can be tough to treat and eradicate due to its resistance to many standard antibiotics and it can persist in hard to reach places like inside the nose.
