Early HIV symptom
Jun 2, 2006
Hi Im a dentist and had a surgical procedure with a patient with history of ex drug abuser (cannabis). After the treatment when i removed my gloves which seem intact , i noticed slightly intact skin around my wrist which feelt burning sensation when i was cleaning my hand with Surgical gel,it didnt seem bleeding and im sure i didnt stuck myslef . I just wonder if any blood particle could possibly be transmitted through that part? because now its has been 3 weeks since this "accident" and i have symptom headache3 days ,1 day diaree,1day muscle and joint ache, 2-3 days appetit loss,1 day nightsweat or it can be just other viral infection ? should it test myself and when ? im very worried, pls advise me reg this matter

Risk seems incredibly low for HIV infection given the scenario you described with a px of unknown HIV serostatus. I would ask the px if he knows his HIV status and if unknown kindly ask him to get an HIV test. YOu can also discuss with your own physician whether you should get tested for HIV now and at some follow-up point (6-8 weeks) for reassurance purposes if the situation remains in doubt.
