|Is this AIDS?
May 17, 2006
I am 24 yr old male diagnosed 3 years ago as HIV positive. I went to the doctor last week with my lab results. My CD4 count was 250. I have a lesion on my left foot which he said was probably KS and that I should be put on ART immediately. Is this possible with such a CD4 count? Since it is an AIDS defining ilness should it not occur till my CD4 count drops below 200? I do not want to start treatment untill it is absolutely necessary but do you think that I should now?
Thanks for your work.

Occasionally KS can be seen in HIV+ ersons with a CD4 count > 250. If a diagnosis of KS is confirmed then that is AIDS-defining. KH
