Response to Avascular Necrosis Prevention Apr 12, 2006 In a previous forum your response to a question dealing with preventing avascular necrosis Keith Henry's response is somewhat different to my experience with an an patient. She was told that sometimes if they see the circulation being cut off to the hip causing its decay they can go in and operate to increase circulation and this procedure was experimental. Is this an option? |

Response from Dr. Henry
For established abascular necrosis there are some re-vascularization procedures that are being used/evaluated as an alternative to standard hip joint replacement. I have had several patients undergo that approach with satisfactory results. KH |
