My partner & HIV Mar 4, 2006
My partner who is hispanic is HIV for two years. His doctor tells him he will be in a clinic in 10 years. He has had HIV for 2 years. So he thinks in 8 years he will be in a clinic. Is 10 years that max for HIV people. His medication is working fine. Can you he live a long happy life as long as his meds keep working?
Response from Dr. Henry
Many patients have been doing well on treatment for 10 years now with no end in sight. It is starting to look like for many patiens on treatment and doing well, that life will be extended for many decades (we are hoping for even more than 20-30 years). Though I don't know for sure even for my patients and I don't have the details involving your partner, I expect most of my patients to be doing well HIV-wise way beyond 10 years. KH
Response from Dr. Santana
