|HIV Medications shipped to US
Feb 22, 2006
I'm looking for the legal policies of shipping prescription HIV medication from Brazil to the US for non-citizens. The person is on a student visa. The medication is being held at customs right now for inspection.

The best advice I can give you is to get in touch with US Customs and find out the specific reason the medications are being held, and what would be required to get them released. One thing that might be ging on here is that the pharmaceutical companies that initially developed the medications have allowed manufacturers in other countries to produce low-cost versions of their medications for local consumption as long as these medications are not imported back into countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia and Western Europe. Find out if this is the case for your situation.
