| WAIT FOR MORE TESTING? Nov 18, 2005 I have had only four blood tests done since diagnosis with CD4 count at 330,300, 230, 260, respectively. I would like to monitor counts futher before begining trtmnt. Is this a good idea? |

Response from Dr. Henry
Most HIV experts in the US support recommendations to treat once the CD4 count consistently falls below 350. The most important factor is the committment on behalf of the patient to start therapy and work with their HIV doc to find a regimen that is a good fit for them. Although most patients regain CD4 cells once therapy is started that isn't always the case so waiting until the CD4 count falls to a much lower value involves some risk. KH | |||||||||
