Symptoms of HIV infection

What are the first symptoms of HIV infection?
Response from Dr. Conway
When a person is initially exposed to the virus, they may develop an illness that resembles the flu, and/or just feel very unwell for days or weeks. However, in many cases (perhaps more than half), a person develops no symptoms at all and jsut acquires HIV infection. And in ALL cases after the acute infection (4-6 weeks, perhaps a bit more), almost everyone is asymptomatic.
This is why if anyone thinks they may have been exposed to HIV, they should ask to be tested for it, whether they have ever had symptoms or not.
