|facial swelling not fat loss?
Sep 20, 2005
I am a 46 year old man. I am heavly treatment experienced and currently on salvage therapy-(6 meds). My face instead of fat loss is fat-I look like a chipmonk. Is this some form of a lipo -disorder?I am a trim guy-5'10 165lbs-but I look like I have a mouth full of walnuts? Any ideas-or is this a new one?

Sometimes that appearance is due to lymph node swelling or more likely swelling of the parotid (salivary) glands due to polycystic disease or other conditions. Sometimes an ENT evaluation and/or a CT of the head can sort that out and then treatment options discussed. I have had numerous patients undergo low dose facial radiation for parotid gland swelling with reasonable good cosmetic results. KH
